HOW DO I STORE MY FOX LABS PEPPER SPRAY?+
Ideally, you would want to store your product at room temperature. As with all aerosol products exposure to extremely high temperatures may cause the unit to burst. Our units should not be exposed to temperatures that will exceed 120°F (49°C). The same goes for the other end of the spectrum with extreme cold temperatures. While our products do not freeze, if kept in extreme cold for extended periods of time, you may experience loss of spray distance with the product. For example, if a unit usually sprays 10ft, if kept in a car overnight on a cold night, it may only spray 7ft. The loss in distance will not diminish the effectiveness of product and is not a permanent side-effect of prolonged cold exposure. With all of this stated, it is best to note that storing our products in extreme temperatures at any end of the spectrum is not advised.
WHICH SPRAYS CAN BE USED INDOORS?+
While generally any of our products can be used for indoor self-defense, we recommend our "serious business" foam unit, because by design it has the least potential for cross contamination. However, you must be much more accurate when using foam to make sure you hit the subject in the face and eyes. The cone/fog spray pattern makes it easier to hit the important areas of the attacker, but it contains the greatest potential of cross contamination when being used in an enclosed area. The stream spray pattern will not cross contaminate as heavily as a cone fog unit, but if being used indoors, it still will create potential for cross contamination due to it being a liquid spray in nature.
WHAT ARE THE SIX DIGIT NUMBERS ON THE CAN?+
Unlike other companies that use an expiration date, our products are marked with manufacture dates. For all units 1.5oz-16.oz, the shelf life is 3 years from the date on the can and we recommend replacing 2 years from the date of purchase. For our personal pocket-sized units, the shelf life is 2 years and we recommend replacing them every year.
WHERE ARE THE SIX DIGIT NUMBERS ON MY PISTOL-GRIP CANISTER?+
Due to the canister's size, all manufacture dates on our Pistol-Grip Crowd Control units are written by hand on the bottom of the canister.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN STREAM AND SPLATTER STREAM?+
The stream is precise straight solid stream spraying with a higher force. Whereas, the splatter stream is more of a scattered variation of the stream spray pattern. Somewhere in between a stream and a cone/fog is the splatter stream.
WHICH SPRAY PATTERN SHOULD I PURCHASE?+
Recommendation is dependent on the users comfortability. We would recommend the cone/fog pattern for someone who has not had prior target training or for someone who does not feel confident that they can hit a target in a stressful situation. We make this suggestion, because the cone/fog pattern covers a larger target area than the stream spray pattern. We would recommend the stream spray pattern for someone who does feel confident in their abilities to hit a target. Due to the stream having a more condensed dispersion pattern, it is less effected by variables such as wind, whereas the cone/fog spray pattern has greater potential to blow back at the user in windy conditions.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN OIL BASED AND WATER BASED PEPPER SPRAY PRODUCTS?+
Oil based requires a solvent, something that allows the carrier and pepper to mix. These types of products work faster on a wider range of subjects. Water based products are water soluble. They usually work a little slower than oil based products and usually clean up easier.
